Equipment List
This is the list
of equipment examined during the survey. It documents what
was inspected and functions as a checklist
for future surveys. IRIS Associates tracks the equipment and provides an organized list.
The Equipment List
is considered a living document. When upgrades take place between surveys,
old equipment is removed and new equipment is installed. At the time
of the next survey, IRIS Associates updates the Equipment List to
reflect the changes.

Anomaly
Report Page 1
Each anomaly found
during the survey is documented on a page of its own with a thermograph, a
photograph, descriptions, and temperature information. More
information is available on “About the Report”. For more
information on how an infrared image is analyzed, click How
Does It Work?
This is a manual disconnect
switch. The hinge on the center phase was so hot that it literally
burnt much of the insulation. This hot connection could have caused a
serious fire. An earlier inspection would have prevented this close
call.

Anomaly
Report Page 2
Each anomaly found
during the survey is documented on a page of its own with a thermograph, a
photograph, descriptions, and temperature information.
Here we have a 25 kV disconnect
switch with a high resistance where the blade engages the jaw on the
bottom phase. A failure in service would take out the whole
substation and shut down the entire plant.

Each anomaly found
during the survey is documented on a page of its own with a thermograph, a
photograph, descriptions, and temperature information.
This is a boiler which
provides high pressure steam to a petroleum refining process. Notice
the high temperature due to an apparent breakdown of insulation.
